Amtul Khan said she was no longer in contact with Mohammed Ilyas Khan, her estranged husband.
She said revelations that he had been living with an illegal immigrant and had a series of home-made sex videos came as no surprise to her. The Khans have two children.
Mr Khan’s career as an immigration judge and Crown Court recorder appeared to be on the line after it emerged that Roselane Driza, his live-in-lover and former cleaner, had stolen videos of him having sex with a blonde woman and a woman judge, named only as Miss J, who was said to have been snorting cocaine.
Speaking from her home in Birmingham, Mrs Khan said: “None of the family have anything to do with him. His parents are both deceased and I doubt his siblings have anything to do with him. The court revelations are no surprise to me.”
One friend of the couple, who did not want to be named, said: “Amtul was absolutely devastated when she found out what he had been up to. They were such a lovely couple.
“Mr Khan is a weak man who seems quite easily led. This whole thing is very embarrassing for them all and I feel so sorry for Amtul and the kids. He should have behaved more responsibly and thought about them instead of himself.”
Mrs Khan’s comments add to speculation about Mr Khan’s womanising. Earlier Miss J had told the Old Bailey that Mr Khan, 60, was also sleeping with a number of women while living with Driza.
Driza is facing a lengthy jail sentence after being found guilty of trying to obtain £20,000 from Miss J.
The 37-year-old Brazilian, who worked illegally for Mr Khan and Miss J for up to five years, though she did not have a work permit, had threatened to sell her story to a tabloid journalist who now works for The Daily Telegraph.
Driza’s elderly mother, Jandira Araujo, was said to have been devastated by her daughter’s conviction. The night before the guilty verdicts were delivered, Driza was allegedly seen in a pub holding newspaper reports of the case and allegedly claimed that she would walk free and make thousands of pounds by selling her story. She will be sentenced next month.
The judges began their relationship in the 1990s and lived together from 1995 to 2000 years before splitting up amicably. In 2004 Driza became Mr Khan’s lover and moved in with him. The court was told he sent fawning e-mails and texts to her, one of which described her as “real chilli hot stuff”.
Mr Khan and Miss J are due to find out on Monday whether Lord Falconer of Thoroton, the Lord Chancellor, will suspend them and begin a judicial investigation into their conduct.
Mr Khan was at a training session yesterday and was due to be off work today.
A spokesman for the Judicial Communications Office said: “A decision will be made in the next couple of days as to whether there will be an investigation by the Lord Chancellor and the Lord Chief Justice.
“If there is an investigation [Mr Khan] will be suspended pending the outcome.”
Miss J, who has been off work for 18 months, has always denied being filmed having sex or taking cocaine.
