Surrey end on a high note

THE Ashes apart, the Oval has been a graveyard this season and, despite two thumping victories to finish, there has been little to celebrate for Surrey. A couple of thousand hardy perennials turned out in the autumn sun to watch Scottish Saltires given another lesson yesterday, but their totesport campaign has been a shambles, too.

Surrey chased a revised total of 203 in 42 overs with 11.3 overs to spare. It should have been far easier after they had the Saltires at 57 for six in the nineteenth over, but Craig Wright, the captain, and Omer Hussain put on 125 in 23 overs.
