AMBIENCE Charming rustic setting with views of Glastonbury. The two-storied Hay Barn has a heated indoor pool.

EXPERIENCE You can choose from massage, acupuncture or manicure — and, though satisfactory, it never quite delivered the blissful highs I have experienced elsewhere.

FOOD B&B. In season, guests are encouraged to take breakfast in the sunny rose garden.

IN CROWD Rock stars and couples come here on retreat. Not really a place to come solo.
