| Sydney's Wallaby Bar turned out to be a mighty hot spot, as one local newspaper put it during last year's Rugby World Cup. It "entertained the real Heineken clan during the week". The clan, of course, are the de Carvalhos - Charlene, 49, only child of the late Freddy Heineken, and her banker husband, Michel, 59, who are based in London. Heineken, the man who created the modern Dutch brewer with its worldwide reputation and famous advertisements, died in early 2002, leaving his stake in the company to Charlene. The family controls almost exactly a quarter of Heineken shares but through the complex voting structure it has control of the company. Michel, for his part, is a City high-flyer and former child film star who had a key role in the 1962 Lawrence of Arabia epic. The family's Heineken stake is now worth £2.2 billion, though dividends and other assets add £60m.
