| The brothers started out together in their father's Hull-based DIY firm and we keep them together even though they went their separate ways. Eddie, 66 next Friday, made his fortune from property deals. His recent projects include Soccer Domes, the indoor football centres he is setting up with Dave Whelan (qv). Eddie shuns the limelight, spending part of the year in Barbados where he has a £17m home. With another developer, Paul Sykes (qv), he turned a derelict site outside Sheffield into Meadowhall shopping centre. Its £1.17 billion sale in 1999 netted him about £420m for his stake and we value him at £600m. His brother Malcolm, 59, built up and later sold the Hygena kitchens business, netting £200m in 1987. Then he went to America and did it again, setting up a similar operation and selling it for £800m. He returned to Britain and now lives on the large Yorkshire estate he bought for about £40m. Despite one or two problems with further investments in kitchen businesses, Malcolm is worth about £750m.
