| JCB is launching a £50m project to build a diesel engine in Britain - the first for a decade. Bamford, 58, is the son of the founder of the Staffordshire engineering firm. He and his brother Mark are in dispute with Jayne Ellis (qv) over the terms of their father's will. In 2002 JCB Service and JCB Compact Products made a combined £23m profit on £926m sales, justifying a £550m valuation for the businesses. Other family wealth amounts to £150m, including a 4,500-acre Staffordshire estate,1,500 acres in Gloucestershire, homes in Barbados and the south of France and a £30m yacht. Recent dividends have topped £69m and there is a £4m investment fund run by John Duffield (qv).
