Tim Landon

101= £400m Oil

Landon must like game shooting. Over the past few years the former army officer has been busily buying grouse moors in the north of England and now owns 50,000 acres. Landon, 61, owes his fortune to oil-rich Oman. He befriended the present Sultan, Qaboos, at Sandhurst and helped him when he took power in the 1970 coup that deposed Qaboos's father. He has been lavishly rewarded and our £400m valuation of his wealth is conservative.
