Property investment is proving lucrative for Hobson, 83, the co-founder of National Car Parks, and his partner, Sir Donald Gosling (qv). Metrose Properties and Consolidated Property Investments, their two London companies, saw net assets grow by £9m to £57m in 2002-03. The two men teamed up after the second world war to build car parks on bomb sites. They sold NCP's parent company, National Parking Corporation, in 1998 for £801m, collecting £290m each. He has other wealth.
