| As deputy treasurer of the Tory party, Eliasch, 42, is reported to have given it a £1m emergency loan last year. Born into a wealthy Swedish family, he came to London in 1985 and has made a fortune buying and selling businesses such as the Head NV sports firm, which he purchased in 1995. After returning it to profit, he floated it on the American Nasdaq exchange in 2000, selling about £87m of shares and retaining a stake worth £31m. Other assets include homes in London, St Tropez and Marrakesh.
