| Chernoi, 54, reaped generous rewards from the country's privatisation programme under Boris Yeltsin in the 1990s. The former electrician and his brother Lev built up Trans World, which owned two of Russia's largest aluminium works, then sold out to rivals, making £300m each. Chernoi came to Britain last year and bought palatial homes in London and the home counties.
