| Newey, 35, sees the British appetite for borrowing at close quarters as proprietor of Ocean Finance, a Staffordshire group specialising in debt consolidation. Made redundant from a financial services firm in 1991, he started Ocean Finance with a partner and £2,500 and six years later bought his partner out. In 2003, the firm arranged loans for 40,000 customers, making £24.6m profit. Other Newey businesses, including Marlborough Loans, made £4.4m profit. Together these assets are easily worth £250m. We add £50m for personal assets and property.
