Ray O'Rourke and family

204 £205m Construction

Known as the "tough guy" in Britain's toughest industry, Irish-born O'Rourke, 57, has made his name in projects such as the Eurostar terminal at Waterloo. In 2002-03, O'Rourke Investments made £44m profit on sales of £1.25 billion. Cautiously, we reckon the Essex-based operation to be worth £250m, valuing the O'Rourke family stake at £200m. We add £5m for other personal wealth.
