Robert Stigwood

Australian-born Stigwood, who was 70 on Friday, lives quietly on his Isle of Wight estate. As the impresario behind hit shows such as Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease, Saturday Night Fever and Hair and manager and record label boss of the Bee Gees and Eric Clapton, he earned a fortune during his 40-odd years in show business. Little of his wealth is visible in Britain. His main UK company, the Robert Stigwood Group, sharply cut its losses in 2002 to just £145,000.
