| Sir John Beckwith, 57, who has given £500,000 to Tory party funds, and his brother, Peter, 59, netted £80m when they sold their London & Edinburgh Trust property business in 1990. They have since invested in a range of lucrative ventures, including making a £50m profit from the sale of sports-related businesses. They have stakes in hotel and property firms and a model agency, but we reduce our valuation of them because the net assets of Sir John's company Pacific Investments have fallen to £35.8m.
