Everest, a leading name in double glazing, was sold by Kennedy last year to a management buyout team for £63m - three years after he bought it for £47m. Kennedy, 44, whose home improvement companies include Weatherseal Windows and Space Kitchens & Bedrooms, has been diversifying lately, moving into property and, in 2002, selling his mobile phones business to Dixons for £31m.
