| Van Vlissingen, 64, is the Rich List's first Scottish billionaire (see panel on page 85). Known in the Highlands for his desire to reintroduce wolves to his remote 81,000-acre Letterewe estate, he is equally keen to preserve foxhunting and has given £350,000 to the Countryside Alliance, which is fighting the government ban. The Dutch-born tycoon's fortune stems from SHV Holdings, a Dutch conglomerate with interests in oil and gas, transport, retailing and financial services. |
