| Brewer Heineken had a good 2005 with profits up 7.3%. Heineken may be Dutch but the biggest shareholder lives in Britain and is represented on the board. Charlene de Carvalho, 51, is the daughter of Alfred Freddy Heineken, the firms former boss. He died in 2002 leaving his fortune to his only daughter, who lives in London with her banker husband, Michel de Carvalho, 61. The family controls only a quarter of Heineken shares but, because of a complex voting structure, has control of the company. The family stake is worth £2,479m. Dividends and other assets add £121m. |
