| It has been a horrendous time for the brothers, with the killing of Malcolms daughter Suzy last year. Eddie, 68 today, made his fortune from property. With fellow developer Paul Sykes (qv), Healey turned a derelict site outside Sheffield into Britains top out-of-town shopping centre. The £1.17 billion sale of Meadowhall in 1999 netted Eddie about £420m. The jewel in his crown today is Centro in Germany, Europes largest shopping centre, which is owned by the Healey family. It is easily worth £500m and we value Eddie at £1,150m. Brother Malcolm, 61, sold the Hygena kitchens business, netting £200m, in 1987. He went to America and set up a similar operation, selling up for £800m. Malcolm, now back in Britain and living on his estate in Yorkshire, is worth about £750m as he took some of his proceeds in shares. Together the Healeys are worth £1,900m. |
