| The Fleming banking family hit the jackpot for the second time in five years last December when Standard Chartered took a 20% stake for £45m in its new venture, Fleming Family & Partners. That valued the London-based wealth management business at £225m. In 2000, led by chairman Roddie Fleming, 52, the family timed its exit from banking at the top of the market, when Chase Manhattan spent £4.8 billion acquiring the Robert Fleming merchant bank. The family received more than £1.4 billion. With other investments, the Flemings are worth £1,700m. |
