| Gordon, 75, stepped down as chairman of the Liberty International property group last year and became life president. His legacy was a record high for the shares this year. The South African-born tycoon focused on British shopping centres such as Lakeside in Essex, and owns or has stakes in nine. The familys 22% stake in Liberty is worth £805m. South African share sales and other assets take him to about £1,050m but Gordon, whose knighthood was for services to business and charity, recently gave £10m each to the Royal Opera House and the Wales Millennium Centre, which lops off £20m. |
