Alan Rayner started Lakeland from his garage in Windermere in 1965 as a weekend sideline. It now sells household items at 30 outlets across the country and is run by his three sons, led by managing director Sam, 52. With rising profits, in today’s climate the business is worth about £93m. The brothers hold equal stakes. We add £2m for other assets.
