| Biffa, 66, has retired from the board of Shanks Group but remains the Slough companys largest shareholder. Shanks disposes of 25% of Londons waste. When the company became part of Severn Trent Water, Biffa and his partner, Malcolm Lee, bought out the Rechem toxic waste business for £1.8m. They floated it in 1988 and agreed a £171m takeover by Shanks in 1991. Biffas remaining stake is worth £15m. Other assets take him to £92m. |
