A 54-year-old American who took British citizenship, Diamond has a putting green-style hole cut into his office carpet, from which sprouts a Stars and Stripes flag. He believes his love of sport gives him the leadership qualities necessary for success. Diamond moved to London 10 years ago from Credit Suisse First Boston, allegedly resigning because his bonus was too small. He is responsible for some of the bank’s fastest-growing operations as chief executive for the investment banking and investment management businesses — Barclays Capital, Barclays Global Investors and Barclays Wealth Management.
