He chairs the enlarged Smurfit Kappa Group and received £17m in a special dividend and salary in 2005. Smurfit, 69, spent £39m last year buying half the K Club, the Irish venue that hosts golf’s Ryder Cup in September. He is a Monaco resident and owns one of the world’s biggest private yachts.
