After its last share sales the Ryan family retained a stake in Ryanair now worth more than £370m. Ryan, 71, and his sons Cathal, 47, Declan, 43, and Shane, 35, reinvested £34m of the £424m they made from Ryanair for a 40% stake in Mexico’s AeroBus, which launched last year and is replicating the Ryanair budget business model. They have £2m, via Dublin-based Irelandia Investments, in the low-cost east Asian carrier Tiger Airways, and made about £3m from selling part of their US airline Allegiant stake last year, keeping a £15m holding. These and other deals would have seen their reinvested gains go to £640m. Ryan Sr lives in Monaco and the family has a vineyard, art, the Castleton Lyons stud in Kentucky and the Lyons estate in Co Kildare.
