John Magnier

Magnier, 59, J P McManus (qv) and Dermot Desmond (qv) shared £125m when Barchester Healthcare was revalued at £1 billion last year. They also sold their Next Generation fitness chain stake for about £132m. With McManus and Aidan Brooks (qv), Magnier has a property portfolio via Sloane Capital, and Magnier and McManus netted £125m from selling their Manchester United stake in 2005. Magnier also controls the £165m Coolmore racing empire. His assets, mainly held offshore, amount to at least £723m.
