The Lewis Trust Group saw profits rise from £95m to £155m on much higher sales of £762.5m in 2005. The star performer was River Island, the London-based fashion chain that started as Chelsea Girl, which made a £139m profit. The family and trusts own the £1.4 billion business, chaired by Bernard Lewis, 81, which diversified into hotels, property and banking. Dividends and other wealth add £80m.
