Charismatic performances and credible camaraderie are what set Donkey Punch apart from traditional slasher thrillers. Set aboard a luxury yacht off the Spanish coast, the film follows the descent into homicidal chaos of a raunchy, drug-fuelled party when the titular mythical sex act (a sharp blow to the back of the neck, mid-coitus) goes badly awry.

The three girls are led by the forthright Kim (Winstone), the boys by the self-satisfied Marcus (Taylor). The real fun, however, is in watching the friendships, so carefully conveyed in the first act, gradually implode. The film does dive headlong into blood-spattered Hollywood schlock by the end, but this was, surely, to be expected.
