It’s a brave musician who takes on Neil Young and Tom Waits, but Jesse Malin is covering both, as well as a raft of rock royals, on his new album.

But then, the American musician has never been scared by big names. The one-time face of punk/hard rock band D Generation collaborated with Bruce Springsteen and Ryan Adams for his last album, Glitter In The Gutter.

On Your Sleeve, however, is not concerned with collaboration, but worship. Malin, who started his first band, Heart Attack, at 12, made the album to honour those who have influenced him.

The Kills, The Ramones and The Clash all receive nods as do The Rolling Stones.

As Malin gears up for the album release next month, we bring you a free download of his cover of Lou Reed’s rightly celebrated Walk on the Wild Side.
