Pete Paphides goes to the home of vocalist Joe Goddard and discusses band arguments, the problems at EMI and Hot Chip's new album Made In The Dark.
"We’ll have this silent anger with each other. It’s mostly about decisions that we make when we’re learning the songs and when we’re deciding how they should be. One person thinks it should be a banging techno number and another person thinks it should be much more gentle. Somewhere in the middle we find some middle ground and normally it works out. So we have moments when we hate each other."
"We’re scabs. Apparently we’re a kind of priority for the label because no-one else is handing in albums. It’s a strange time."
"Before they were in Fridge and before we were in Hot Chip they were two years above us and so they used to take us to gigs. I went to tons of my first gigs getting ion the tube with them after school and going into town."

He was also very funny. When asked what 'Over and Over' was about his reply was "Cymbals.....monkeys.......and repetition..."
Well I tought he was funny...........

I saw Joe Goddard on Never Mind the Buzzcocks last night and he looks more like a darts player than a pop star. For those who haven't seen a pic of Joe, he's a chubby middle aged bloke with a ginger beard. However, only the most catty of music fans would say Hot Chip's music sounds as if it's been recorded by darts players.
