The video mobile network, 3, has announced the "first mobile blogging service", which allows users to post text, pictures or video clips on the web.

The company has predicted that its My Gallery product will add "a new dimension to the ‘blogging’ phenomenon", which has seen individuals ranging from schoolchildren to politicians sharing their thoughts on the web in the form of an online diary.

According to Technorati, the market analysis firm, the number of blogs has doubled every five and a half months since the beginning of 2004. It is estimated that more than 4.8 million blogs exist in cyberspace.

The 3 service promises to integrate third generation mobile technology and webblogging by allowing pictures or videos to be sent from a mobile phone to a customer’s unique blog.

Customers can choose to share their images with friends and family "by invitation only" on a private website or show them off to a global audience on a public website.

"Video mobile technology is all about immediacy … with My Gallery, you can share your antics straight away with your friends and family without being tied to a PC,’ said Graeme Oxby, marketing director of 3.
