Camilla has a lot to live up to and she knows it. Her style is just on the edge of elegant and she should look a bit more chic. She is now an ambassador for the United Kingdom and people will watch what she wears with great interest. Jean Kaye, Boynton Beach, Florida
Will the day ever come when a women is not judged on what she is wearing? Camilla is being compared (ridiculously) to a 20-something 20-odd years ago, namely Diana, but as a mature woman on state business she simply needs to look appropriate and respectable - which she does. More attention should be paid to the qualities she has that are relevant to her role: friendliness, support of osteoporosis research, and so on, and less attention to this sexist fashion drivel. Jessica Owen, London
A different hairdo would be a big help. With people to wait on her hand and foot she can surely find someone to give her a shorter and more stylish hairdo. That fringe adds years to her face. Her two wedding outfits (minus the Mad Hatter hats) were very flattering. Dawn Williams, Long Beach, California
We have always thought English duchesses were "dowdy". Thank goodness Camilla did not disappoint us. Charles Nile-Shirley, San Francisco
Obviously, we hope Camilla does herself credit; but why should we be so anxious about what the Americans think? If she dresses to suit her looks and personality, and with skilled advice, we can surely be confident that she will look fine, and that all the carping and cattiness has really quite another target. John Small, Harrow, Middx
With such an astonishing array of wondeful things in our lives such as the works of J.S. Bach, glorious architecture and paintings, wonderful literature, and of course the beauty of nature and the mystery of the universe, to devote even one moment of my precious life to this completely irrelevant and ridiculous subject is an affront to my intelligence. Richard N. Nahabedian, Toronto
Camilla wore mostly pretty nice looking outfits while here. The only bad item was the coronet of the late Queen Mary. I have seen pictures of the late Queen wearing it and it was made for her hairstyle, which was usually piled up on top of her head. Now it is on Camilla and is much too tall. Surely the Queen has another one that could be used instead. Betsy Brumfield, Tennessee
Watching the royals stumbling their way through a hurricane-devastated area in New Orleans was like watching two pensioners who had alighted from an OAP tour coach looking for the nearest toilet. Clarence House should ask SAGA to sponsor them. John Murray, Plymouth
The Duchess of Cornwall is appropriately dressed for each occasion. I am not a Camilla fan, but think she has been unreasonably abused on this visit. It is a pleasure to see a properly dressed person in the news after all the so called Glamour Queens. Rita Saling, Grass Valley, Calfornia
Who cares what Camilla dresses like? The Royal Family have no real choices. Other people around them make all their decisions for them. They are only there as figureheads. The way the media goes on you would think that Camilla’s clothes were of world shattering importance. The fact is that Trinny and Susannah are more influential. Surely they must be, because they were on Parkinson. George Falconer, Oswestry
I think Camilla is terrific; she has a sense of humour and her fashion sense is suitable for women of our age. She is not a walking fashion plate, but nevertheless she is stylish; a down-to-earth person, and I like her a lot. She dresses as a consort should, and not to be the centre of attention. She also does not simper and she looks people in the eye when she is speaking. I prefer her, it's as simple as that. Vicky George, Redditch
Camilla is regal, she is doing England proud, Charles is happy. She is gracious, elegant, queenly, behaves like a royal ought to and is giving some dignity back to the Royal Family. There are enough Barbie dolls around; Camilla is dignified and I certainly wish her well. Margaret O’Brien, Penang, Malyaysia
