If a TV producer does not get hold of this double-act for a politically incorrect series of short documentaries then there is no-one in TV land with any sense at all. I thought their pieces were not only humorous but much more informative than any of the “serious” journalism coming out of Iraq. Derek Sinclair, Dundee
How did the Brits go from “stiff upper lip” to quivering lower lip? Why is Clarkson and Gill’s version of the route Irish journey so different from the story in the Washington Post (Easy sailing along once-perilous road to Baghdad airport)? George Pearson, Santa Rose, California
My initial thoughts of “time wasters” was replaced by appreciation of a very real and valued piece of by-the-seat-of-your-pants reporting from Baghdad by Clarkson and Gill. Thank you, it was very enlightening. Christine Cave, Spalding, Lincolnshire
How pathetic. Is there no end this man will not go to, to get publicity? His bewilderment that there are people out there who want to kill him when they don't even know his name. How egocentric can one get? Anderson Robertson, Innellan
I loved the clips. I spent eight months in Baghdad with the now defunct Coalition Provisional Authority as one of four Brits employed by the US State Department. I and another couple of colleagues of mine felt like we were back home. Great to see all the old sites, airport run, etc. Excellent stuff. Thanks, Jon Sterenberg, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
The trip seems to have been a total waste of US military resources to mother and protect a pair of minor celebrities who wanted to wear Kevlar and play with tanks while both American and British soldiers are dying every day in their attempt to bring peace to Iraq and its people. Alistair Scott, Glasgow
As an Englishman living in America, I feel obliged to apologize for heavy-handed American foreign policy whenever I return home. It galls me to see Jeremy Clarkson trivialize everybody's efforts in Iraq, right or wrong. Nick Bowman, Tampa, Florida
Amazingly these two articles were the most interesting and insightful articles I've read about the war in Iraq. Maybe because they were written by real people explaining how it made them feel to be there and what they experienced, instead of from the machine of a spin doctor looking for an angle. I'm not quite sure, but kudos to you both for having the kahoonas to go there in the first place. I can just imagine it, "... this wasn't in the brochure". Fleur Terry, Melbourne, Victoria
