James I and VI didn't marry in an Anglican Church, Charles I and II's wives were Catholic; and there is an established Church in Scotland that seems able to cope with the fact that Queens of the United Kingdom have not been married in Presbyterian Churches. Perhaps, just as the Royal Family magically become Presbyterian on crossing into Scotland (and Anglican again on their return), Camilla could magically cease to be Queen on entering Anglican Cathedrals. Bruce William Rae, Wellington, New Zealand
Whilst the nation, nay, world loved the late Diana, Princess of Wales, it must now find the heart to turn that love towards Camilla. Maybe love is too strong a word but at least warm to her. What does it matter if she becomes Queen? In all honesty it matters very little. The line is now secured in Diana's two children. Give her a break, we no longer live in Victorian England (sadly) and both she and Charles, especially Charles, deserve their remaining years to be happy ones. Luke Faichney, Robin Hood's Bay
I am and always will be a huge fan of Diana, Princess of Wales. She was a great representative of what we expected of a future queen. Camilla cannot attain the status of Diana. She was classy, beautiful, full of life and she appealed to people from all walks of life, cultures and backgrounds. After all, Camilla is in part responsible for breaking up the marriage of Charles and Diana and we will never forgive her. I personally hope that Prince William will be King after Queen Elizabeth the II. Sharon Bergersen, Åneby, Norway>
The monarchy will not survive if Charles becomes King. I see no reason why Camilla should not become Queen, but unless they skip a generation and let a younger man have a go, the institution will slowly die. Too many things have gone wrong for Charles, most of them, it has to be said, brought about by his own behaviour. Michael Rigby, Higher Wheelton
Sorry, but I'm still holding a grudge because of the way the Duke of Windsor was treated. A twice-divorced woman wasn't allowed to be Queen then, and shouldn't be allowed now. I know that Charles is next in line to ascend to the throne, but I'd love to see him step aside and allow his son William to reign. I love watching this family; they prove that "what goes round, comes round." Beverly Flynn, Chepachet, Rhode Island
If we accept that the Monarch's eldest child inherits the throne however suitable or unsuitable they are, then we should accept that the new Monarch's wife should be Queen, irrespective of suitability. Geoff Buck, Plymouth
Camilla displays all the qualities that are to be expected of a future queen - she has remained silent and discreet during her life in the public eye; she has a remarkable resilience to the criticism and intrusion she has had to bear; she stays out of the spotlight and, considering her unusual circumstances, lives a life similar to that led by many people throughout the UK. Robert Valentine, London
No, I do no think she should become Queen, nor Charles King. Isn't this what happened to Edward who married Wallis Simpson and was dethroned. Don't you blame Charles for destroying a woman he did not love when he married her? What short memories some people have! Mary-Anne Garcia, Round Rock, Texas
