A few weeks ago, Prime Minister Tony Blair gave a very emotional and passionate speech in which he said: "Let us not forget the victims of September 11; let us not forget those telephone messages that were left on answering machines; let us not forget those children who have lost their parents."
Indeed, let us not forget, because in that tragic event innocent people died and many innocent Muslims were also killed. But the question is, WHY SHOULD OUR MEMORY BE SO SELECTIVE? Why should our mourning be so discriminatory and partial?
We mourn 2,900 people who died on September 11, but why should we forget the almost one million Iraqi children who have died to date in Iraq, the thousands killed in Kashmir, the hundreds of thousands killed in Chechnya, the victims of terror in Palestine? Why should we forget the hundreds of thousands who were butchered in former Yugoslavia? Let us not forget.
THERE'S AN INHERENT POLICY OR SUGGESTION THAT THE LIFE OF A NON-MUSLIM IS INFINITELY, INHERENTLY MORE VALUABLE THAT THAT OF A MUSLIM. Why is it that everyone remembers September 11 but nobody remembers September 16?
On September 16, in 1982, the Christian militia, with the connivance and under the guard and the protection of the Israeli army, launched into a three-day orgy of cold-blooded murder against the innocent Muslim refugees of the two camps of Shatila and Sabra. More than 2,000 innocent old men and women and children were killed and many of them raped. They were butchered in cold blood. Why should we forget September 16?
Two thousand, nine hundred or so people died in New York and Washington. In 1995, in the supposed safe haven of Srebrenica, an area designated by the UN as a safe haven, under the guard of UN soldiers, in one day more than 7,000 Muslim men and boys were killed in cold blood by the Serbian army. And then we are being asked, why do you not believe us when we say this isn't a war against Muslims?
This is undoubtedly tyrrany and injustice. This war is supposedly in the name of justice. It is not just. In this world, those who are tyrannical, oppressive and unjust, they mock Allah, they ridicule Allah. They refuse to acknowledge Allah's law as the supreme law. They refuse to obey the commands of Allah. America calls itself a peaceful nation. It should think.
America has always been engaged in some conflict or another, in some part of the world, ever since the 1940s. It's never stopped. The list is long.
Of course, today, war means peace; peace means war. Just as one American soldier said in Vietnam, in the ruins of a village that was burned down: in order to save the village, we had to destroy it first. So this is a humanitarian campaign. The governments of America and Britain and their allies in the coalition want to save Afghanistan by destroying it first, bombing it into the Stone Age. And then they will rebuild it. But it will be rebuilt from nothing into a country that suits the interests of the West. This is not a humanitarian campaign.
May Allah end the suffering of all innocent people. May Allah establish justice upon the earth and may Allah exercise his prerogative of infinite justice. May Allah stay the hand of the enemies of Islam and those who are unjust and tyrannical. May Allah protect the lives, the dignity, the honour and the property of all Muslims, wherever they may be.
