Dr williams would do well to read Richard Dawkins "the God Dellusion" every day until he understood that all religion is a fairy tale or a lie which ever you like. The sooner we dump religion the better we will be.
M Wilson, Bidache, france
I live in a country that prides itself on the freedom of expression, religion, sexual preference etc. It is called the United Kingdom. We have many faults in this country depending on who you ask but we do have a very robust legal system.
If any group of persons do not like how things are done in this country then they can appeal to their MP's and get things changed, that is the process.
If you do not like these freedoms then simply choose a country more in keeping with your beliefs.
As an example don't come to Britain if seeing young girls in skimpy bikinis at the beach offends, that is what happens here so do not be surprised.
Sharia law and the Jewish law have no place in the UK.
joe, Edinburgh, Scotland
If I completely disregard Sharia law just for thinking it is based on irrational belief and is utterly devoid of any sense of justice, how does that make me a racist?
Any person of any nationality or race can become a muslim. Unlike the Jews, who are a race, there is no race of muslims or catholics etc. So disregarding a religion or religious law does not make you a racist. This means that Emad Yawer above is a little ignorant doesn't it?
John, London,
I found those who blindly objected to the call Sharia laws, regardless of what was meant or what to do are racist with deep blind hate. The simplest was to try to understand what he meant before attacking him.
Simply put, to try to implement, the Sharia should be understood by the British law makers, divide it into 3 sections, those that is perfectly alright or are already incorporated in the British law. The second sections are laws that can be explained on adopting it to fit the British laws and to explain it to Moslems on these limitations. The final sections on laws that are in direct conflict with British laws and should be left to the ALL MIGHTY.
This way everyone knows where they stand and there are no misunderstanding of the laws by the Moslems, and they become law abiding citizens.
Emad Yawer, London, UK
What percentage of the population can now be regarded as "church going" ? I applaud Dr Williams for his courage. This does not mean he WANTS shariah, he just initiated a discussion.
Hamad Lone, London, England
Let's forgive Dr Williams and give him our firm support . No one should resign on account of one speech/lecture. Where's the freedom of speech? It's time to move on Let us learn to forgive.
Ernest, London, England
