Iraqi doctor named Catholic woman of the year
An Iraqi doctor who founded a charity has been named a Catholic Woman of the Year. Dr Suha Rassam, who founded the charity Iraqi Christians in Need last year to offer spiritual and practical help to Christians in her homeland, is also the author of "Christianity in Iraq."

Scotland's first minister on sectarianism
Alex Salmond, the First Minister of Scotland, has urged churches and football clubs to eradicate sectarianism.. In an interview published next month in Life and Work, the magazine of the Church of Scotland, Salmond says: “Every sensible person recognises that sectarianism is a significant evil in Scotland which has to be confronted and defeated. We have continued with a range of anti-sectarian programmes particularly at school level. I regard churches and football clubs as part of the solution.”
Al-Qaeda militant charged with archbishop's murder
An Al-Qaeda soldier in Iraq has been charged with the murder of the Chaldean Catholic Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho. The Most Rev Rahho, Archbishop of Mosul, was found dead in February some days after his kidnapping. An Iraqi government spokesman said that Ahmed Ali Ahmed, also known as Abu Omar was sentenced to death on Sunday for Rahho’s murder.
Roman Catholic priests admits stealing
A Roman Catholic priest based in Suffolk has admitted stealing more than £90,000 left to his parish church in a will. Fr Eric Woodhead embezzled £91,963 from Our Lady Star of the Sea parish in Lowestoft. Fr Woodhead has now been suspended indefinitely from the priesthood.
