Nine out of ten fathers feel responsible for the spiritual care of their offspring, according to a new survey by ICM Research for the Church of England. It found that fathers in the North of England felt the greatest sense of spiritual responsibility — 91 per cent of northern fathers say it is their duty to care for their children’s souls, compared with 82 per cent of Scots, 79 per cent of Welsh and those in the South West, 85 per cent in the Midlands and 81 per cent in the South East.
An art student from Israel is launching a controversial project to create a Jewish state in Weimar. Ronen Eidelman has produced a mini-constitution, flags and banners for his Medinat Weimar project, for his masters degree in public art and new artistic strategies at Bauhaus University. However, the university is refusing to display Eidelman’s Medinat Weimar work in its museum.
Thousands of Indonesian Muslims attended a rally in Jakarta this week urging the Government to ban the Ahmadiyyah branch of Islam, believed by some Muslims to be heretical. The Government has not banned the group but says its followers could face a five-year jail sentence for tarnishing religion.
