'Destruction of God's work', December 2008
Pope's holiday address to the Curia
Pope Benedict said that humanity needed to listen to the “language of creation” to understand the intended roles of man and woman and behaviour beyond traditional heterosexual relations was a “destruction of God’s work”.
“The tropical forests do deserve our protection. But man, as a creature, does not deserve any less," the Pope told scores of prelates gathered in the Vatican's Clementine Hall.
"What’s needed is something like a ‘human ecology,’ understood in the right sense. It’s not simply an outdated metaphysics if the Church speaks of the nature of the human person as man and woman, and asks that this order of creation be respected.”
'Obscuring of the difference of the sexes has enormous consequences', July 2004
Written when Cardnal Ratzinger
"The obscuring of the difference or duality of the sexes has enormous consequences on a variety of levels. This theory of the human person, intended to promote prospects for equality of women through liberation from biological determinism, has in reality inspired ideologies which, for example, call into question the family, in its natural two-parent structure of mother and father, and make homosexuality and heterosexuality virtually equivalent, in a new model of polymorphous sexuality."
“Among the fundamental values linked to women's actual lives is what has been called a 'capacity for the other.' Although a certain type of feminist rhetoric makes demands 'for ourselves,' women preserve the deep intuition of the goodness in their lives of those actions which elicit life, and contribute to the growth and protection of the other. . . . But, in the final analysis, every human being, man or woman, is destined to be 'for the other.' . . . Therefore, the promotion of women within society must be understood and desired as a humanization accomplished through those values, rediscovered thanks to women. Every outlook which presents itself as a conflict between the sexes is only an illusion and a danger; it would end in segregation and competition between men and women, and would promote a solipsism nourished by a false conception of freedom."

i can only imagine were the human race would be right now if not for superstition, paranoia, fear and ignorance. Living in peace with eachother and nature..maybe already exploring distant galaxies...discrimination and wars a distant memory. Shame on you Pope B....you've done enough harm.
Anne-Kari Madsen, Mount Vernon, USA
Maybe this man should reflect on why people engage in homosexual and lesbain relationships and come to realise that happiness isn't only defined to man and a woman

Purification of sexual desire for each of us is a vital ingredient of any attempt to act morally. Without it, every facet of moral behaviour is hindered.
Father Bryan Storey, Tintagel, UK
He should be more concern about sexual assaults happening or not in his surroundings and leave people living at peace carrying their lives this way. Indeed his "business"is such a dramatic failure that one wonder even what he does of his voice and of his time.
marie, london,
It must concern his holiness that so many gay men seek the priesthood.

It is instructive that these advocates of diversity display a hearty desire to repress those traditional religious authorities who hold contrary notions. Yup. Religious freedom and freedom of conscience will fare well when they get their way and come to power.

Seán MaCurtain, homosexual behaviour is prevalent throughout the animal kingdom, some animals including human ones, are born that way, get over it.
Alan C, Bixter, Shetland
This does not accurately quote the Church documents. For example, you say that according to the Church, homosexual persons should not be accepted. But the Church document linked to says they should be accepted. Please give the original documents without misrepresenting them.

The Pope is reminding us that the Almighty Father (Mother Nature to
atheists) created/designed members of the humn race and creatures of all other specis either male or female for a specific purpose which can never be accomplished by same-sex pairs.
Seán MaCurtain, Franklin, N.Y.,, USA
Only when Governments outlaw discrimination of all kinds within the church as well as secular organisations will society put it's money where it's mouth is. Giving excemptions on one matter of discrimination opens the door for others types of discrimination on religious grounds.
Liz, Dumfries, Scotland
Ratzinger would do well to concern himself with fighting poverty, homelessness and the myriad of other problems, real problems that the catholic church could help to stamp out and not spreading hate!
