Sir, The media are advised not to report family law injustices. Is it really too risky to report that parents spend thousands of pounds trying to keep in contact with their children (letter, Oct 29)?

Is it really too risky to report that parents have to endure false allegations and being treated as guilty (where in British law is that allowed?), have to endure not seeing their children for months because there are so many cases, even getting a directions hearing takes months? Just what are we doing to the children’s emotional wellbeing denying them access to loving parents?

We need to allow the press the right to report openly. We need to trust the press to use their discretion in extremely sensitive cases. Public pressure and openness will help to improve the family law system.
