JUST ANNOUNCED
Infiniti FX37
Prices £40,000-£45,000 (estimated)
On sale in UK April 2009
What’s different? Nissan’s luxury arm, Infiniti, is launching its range in the UK from spring 2009. It will include the FX37, a dramatically styled crossover that blends SUV capabilities with a rakish body. Powered by a potent 314bhp 3.7 litre V6, the FX37 will boast four-wheel drive, a seven-speed automatic transmission and 20in alloys
Why should I care? The FX37 threatens to be the style sensation of the crossover sector when it arrives, and it should have the performance to match its looks, thanks to that terrific V6. It’ll be brimming with technology, too, such as a system that uses cameras on the front and side of the car for a bird’s-eye view of its position. Great for parking in Chelsea

Volvo C30 R-Design Sport
Price £14,995-£21,245
On sale Now
What’s different? When Volvo launched the C30, observers reckoned the company had a bit of a looker on its hands, something to appeal to younger folk. The new entry-level R-Design Sport model capitalises on that youthful aesthetic, adding a chunky roof spoiler, great-looking alloys and a distinctive two-tone interior trim.
Why should I care? The additional bits on the R-Design are well integrated with the C30’s styling – in other words, they don’t look tacked on. There are other nice touches on the inside, too, such as the blue instrument dials and aluminium pedals. And at £14,995 in 1.6 litre guise it’s not a bank-breaker.
