1. Individuals who work in fields where high levels of creativity and innovation are part of the job face risk daily.

2. The leaders of these individuals face an even greater challenge: making it acceptable for staff to take necessary risks.

3. To do this, leaders need to let ideas breathe and give them a chance to grow, instead of being judgmental and squashing creativity.

4. Because fewer than half of all ideas will come to fruition, it's critical for leaders to convey to staff that it is okay to make mistakes and also to champion their ideas.
