What is it? Faber Maunsell is a consultancy specialising in buildings, transportation and environmental services, Martin Birchall writes. It works on projects from schools, hospitals and stadiums to dams, roads and railways, and employs more than 3,000 staff in the UK and Europe. Its parent company, AECOM, employs more than 24,000 people in 60 countries.

Are there opportunities for work experience? The company provides vacation and course placements lasting at least eight weeks. There is also a sponsorship scheme for a limited number of undergraduate students each year that includes financial assistance and paid work each summer holiday. The scheme is open to school-leavers and current students and has a minimum entry requirement equivalent to grades BBC at A level.

What graduate jobs are on offer? Faber Maunsell has about 250 places a year on graduate development programmes in buildings, environment or transportation. Most roles are for engineers, consultants, strategists or managers and require a relevant degree. Where are the jobs? There are 28 offices across the UK including Aberdeen, Birmingham, Cambridge, Darlington, Liverpool, London, Norwich, Nottingham, Plymouth and York.
