March 12: The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon attended the Commonwealth Day Observance Service at Westminster Abbey, London SW1, and were received by the Dean of Westminster (the Very Reverend John Hall) and the SubDean of Westminster (Canon Robert Wright).

Her Majesty, accompanied by His Royal Highness, was present this evening at a Reception given by the Commonwealth Secretary-General (His Excellency the Rt Hon Donald McKinnon) at Marlborough House.

The Viscount Brookeborough (Lord in Waiting) was present at Heathrow Airport, London, this afternoon upon the Arrival of The President of the Republic of Ghana and Mrs Kufuor and welcomed His Excellency and Mrs Kufuor on behalf of The Queen.

March 12: The Prince of Wales, Patron, this afternoon attended a Reception to launch British Tourism Week at HM Tower of London, London EC3.

His Royal Highness afterwards took a riverboat trip down the River Thames with representatives from London’s tourism industry.

The Prince of Wales, President, The Prince’s Trust, this evening gave a Dinner at Windsor Castle.

March 12: The Duke of York, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, this morning visited Saudi Aramco, Al Khobar, and was received by Mr Andrew Turner (Chargé d’Affaires, British Embassy, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia).

His Royal Highness afterwards attended a Briefing on South Rub Al Khali at the offices of Shell in Al Khobar.

The Duke of York this afternoon attended a Business Meeting at the Residence of the Head of the British Trade office, Al Khobar, and remained to Lunch.

His Royal Highness later visited Saad Specialist Hospital, Al Khobar.

The Duke of York afterwards departed Saudi Arabi for Bahrain and was received upon arrival in Manama by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain (His Excellency Mr James Bowden).

His Royal Highness this evening called upon The Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Bahrain at his Residence, Salihiya.

The Duke of York afterwards attended a Middle East Oil Show Reception given by Her Majesty’s Ambassador at the Residence, Manama.

His Royal Highness later departed Bahrain for the United Arab Emirates and was received upon arrival by Her Majesty’s Consul-General (Mr John Hawkins).
