The interior designer Nina Campbell says that she got the taste for design when she moved houses so often as a child in and around London. She recalls at the age of 12 being overtaken by the urge to rearrange rooms with her mother: “Needless to say halfway through we’d get exhausted and go to bed leaving sofas and chairs halfway up the staircase.” She founded her own company when she was 22 and her clients include the Duchess of York, the Queen of Denmark and Rod Stewart. She has published three books, her latest being a decorating journal, and she has three children. She still gets upset when people lean back on her dining room chairs. Nina Campbell is 63 today. RGT
