A service of thanksgiving for the life and work of Anton Rodgers was held on May 8, 2008, at St Paul’s Church Covent Garden.

The Rev Simon Grigg, rector of St Paul’s officiated and led the prayers.

Mr Luke Rodgers, son, bade welcome.

Ms Francesca Annis read a poem, The Love That I Have by Leo Marks, Ms Julia McKenzie read So Many Different Lengths of Time by Brian Patten. Mr Robert Young recalled early memories and Mr Peter Egan paid tribute.

During the service Mr Michael Ball sang Hushabye Mountain from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mr Clive Conway, flute, accompanied by Ms Christine Croshaw, performed Largo from Bach’s Flute Sonata. A recording of Anton Rodgers singing Thank You Very Much from Scrooge was played at the end of the service.

Among others present were Mrs Rodgers (widow), Mr and Mrs Adam Rodgers (son and daughter-in-law), Mr Barnaby Rodgers, Mr Dominic Rodgers (sons), Miss Talia Rodgers (daughter), Mrs Elizabeth Wade (sister) with other members of the family.

Lord and Lady Rix, Mr Jeremy Irons, Ms Sinead Cusack, Ms Samantha Bond, Mr Julian Glover, Ms Isla Blair with many other friends and former colleagues.
