“More than sixty foreign tourists, including at least six Britons, were killed in the Egyptian desert yesterday when terrorists armed with machineguns opened fire on tour buses as visitors climbed out to look at the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. the attackers, disguised as policemen, had burst into the courtyard of the 4,000-year-old temple shortly after 9 am and started firing indiscriminately as the tourists walked up the steps to the temple. The five remaining terrorists hijacked a tour bus with three French people on board and fled to the hills near by, but they were pursued and killed by police in a second shoot-out. The tourists also died. Soldiers then showed up with AK47 rifles and what appeared to be grenade launchers and went up into the surrounding hills and we heard shots continuing after that.”Qatar: “Unfortunately we were right to assume that the most likely achievement of the weekend crisis summit in Washington would be a pledge to meet again.
