Buckingham Palace

The Queen held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.

His Excellency Sir Frank Kabui was received in audience by Her Majesty upon his appointment as Governor-General of Solomon Islands when The Queen conferred upon him the honour of Knighthood and invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George.

Lady Kabui was also received by Her Majesty.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, the Outward Bound Trust, this morning officially opened Carole Nash House at the Outward Bound Centre, Aberdovey, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Gwynedd (His Honour Huw Morgan Daniel).

By command of The Queen, Mr. Charles Gray (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr. Alfonso Matta Fahsen at 13 Fawcett Street, London SW10, this morning in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the Republic of Guatemala to the Court of St. James’s.

The Princess Royal, Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Logistic Corps, this morning visited 152 (Ulster) Transport Regiment, The Royal Logistic Corps (Volunteers) at Hillsborough Castle and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of County Down (Mr. David Lindsay).

Her Royal Highness this afternoon visited the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland, Equality House, 7-9 Shaftesbury Square, Belfast, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the County Borough of Belfast (Dame Mary Peters).

The Princess Royal, accompanied by Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, this evening attended the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation Parliamentary Assembly Annual Session Dinner at the Palace of Holyroodhouse and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor George Grubb, the Rt. Hon. the Lord Provost).
