Shopping for an elegant, upmarket convertible? You could have a Jaguar, a Mercedes or . . . this. Of course, Lexus sells loads of these things in America. But they wouldn’t know a good car if it jumped out of a hedge and ate their feet. Here, its numb handling and jittery ride make it a poor choice for British roads, even if you could live with the looks. And trust me on this: you can’t.
Lexus SC 430: The range was launched in 2001 and has had one update since then. However, there is still only one version, the 4.3 litre V8, and one equipment grade with everything from sat nav to leather upholstery as standard.
Well...is Jeremy Clarkson GOD or something...
Just bought an SC430....Scalarti Red...absolutely love it to bits. Had RS Cosworth before....zoom all the way. Fabulous interior, no expense spared there. Drives like a dream...drives like a Lexus !!

Actually as far as the cars listed in this group, I prefer the Mini. I had one back in the mid 60's while stationed in the UK, and it was as much fun to drive as my Alfa.

My 430 is the best car i have ever owned, i have a black beauty with cream leather interior ,she drives like a dream has never let me down, looks good with roof up or down , pure luxuary interiors, But its no good for clarkson as it doesnt screem round corners, not a car for boy racers!!

Oh for heavens sake 'evan', Michael and Samuel - it's a dog and everyone knows it is. Looks like a Mercedes that's been left in front of a 2-bar fire and melted a bit (for you Americans a 2-bar fire is... er... an electric fire with 2 elements....).
Yes Lexus know how to screw cars together so bits don't fall off, but there's more to desirable cars than that. Never mind, the more Americans that buy soft, wallowy junk, the more proper cars are left for the rest of us.

lexus makes excelent cars. Considering the sc430, u wont find anything better than this in its class. it looks way better than any of the european competitors. is fast. the interior feels like a luxury sedan. it looks great with both top up and down(most other convertibles dont). its got everything u would expect in a luxury car and the styling that surely would turn heads. so just because you are british, doesnt mean that all european car are the best. look at the interior of those cars. can it even come close to the sc430. and it got 4 seats. most good lookin convertibles only got 2 seats. so dont just say its the worst car because u are against the japanese cars

It may look like a blown up Auidi TT but it is fast and silky smooth - a very different looking car that does actually look very good. Yes it is better on motorways than country lanes - but so is my Grand Cherokee and most cars. And its a head turner for sure!

It's not so much Americans don't know good cars, its that Toyota has convinced most Americans that only Toyoata can make good cars. Or maybe Honda. Frankly, I'd rather walk than own either.
