STOCKPORT A teacher has been suspended from her post at an independent school after pupils identified her on the internet as a model shown simulating sex in a “raunchy” advertisement for workwear. Sarah Green, an English teacher, has been asked to stay away from Stockport Grammar School, in Greater Manchester, while staff investigate concerns raised by parents. She is alleged to be one of three women shown fully clothed but simulating sex with workmen in a promotion to sell Scruffs workwear. The clip, shot before she joined the school, is on YouTube : Younger readers should consult with a parent or guardian before watching it.

I feel it is disgraceful, the action taken on this teacher. Her previous career was as an actress and it has absolutely nothing to do with her career now. If the dirty minds of the boy pupils are searching for porn on the internet it should be them, not Sararh Green who is punished. The school are taking this incident too far as it was her past not her present.
nicholas, Manchester, England
I am an Old Stop and young teacher. I think the headmaster has done the right thing - what else could he do? I currently work in an international school and have no doubt that something like that would never fly over here nor in any of the 'rival' schools in Manchester. SGS cannot afford this kind of bad publicity or else it is forever destined to remain the poor provincial cousin of MGS/Withington/Manchester High. SGS already lags woefully behind on academic results as it is, never mind in terms of reputation. Yes, teachers are entitled to private lives and a break from being the exemplars of virtue they are so often expected to be in the classroom, of course they are. Unfortunately, Ms Green's is all over the net. Fortunately, mine is not. Quite apart from that, the suspension surely takes a little pressure of the teacher (& colleagues). It would be pretty uncomfortable to teach with all the press coverage going on I'm sure. It's best all round if she and SGS both move on.
Old Stop, Singapore, Singapore
In my high school, one of our drama teachers had a part in a movie in which she very briefly appeared topless & simulating sex before she became a teacher. Not only was she not fired, her class was (shocker! :D) immensely popular. I consider it a huge promotion for the Arts, myself....
Sylvia, Toronto,
Ironic... considering the school often publicises the successful careers of old Stopfordians employed by successful advertising agencies. I think the Nanny state that the school was so adament to abolish when I was an SGS pupil has tragically won.
Charlotte Bacchus, Brisbane, Australia
If Sarah Green wants to sue the School-and she should-for unfair dismissal, I'd be happy to contribute to the cost.
Mr Robert Clements, Dorchester,
It's a great film! I'd buy the jacket, and it looks like most of the people commenting on youtube are in favour of it too.
I don't see what all the fuss is about. If a Hollywood actress offered to come to the school to give a talk they'd jump at it. They could hardly say that the children shouldn't be exposed to someone who's done raunchy scenes in that case. Would teachers who'd worked in a pub while at college get suspended because parents complained that the teacher was encouraging children to drink alcohol?
Josie Henley-Einion, Cardiff, Wales
I wish we had teacher as hot as that when I was at school.
Steve, Auckland, New Zealand
It is granted that the advert uses sex as a marketing tool but in todayâs postmodern society, when did that strategy become such a shock! Lynx have been producing suggestive adverts for years and we have become attuned to it. It cannot be right that this teacher could lose her job for appearing fully-clothed in a commercial which was created fouryears ago when she was a student and before she took on the teaching job.
She is of no threat to her pupils, so what is all the fuss about? What is important is her ability to teach and she should be judged on that solely.
Sean, Guildford,
Thank you, to the times, for bringing this to our attention. Video clips of this quality are hard to find and it has saved considerable hours searching the web.
i do believe that schooling is important and implicit in that the teachers must be normal competant persons. Having a school master or mistress who can do something other than teach will improve the experience.
Parents should boycott this school for their bizarre attitude which is resulted in the suspension of this person. I hope she is still being paid while prevented from working.
antony rigby, Hassi Messaoud, Algeria
How much more prissy and sanctimonious can we get? "Concerns raised by parents", indeed! As the great man asid, "he that is without sin amongst you, let him cast the first stone".
JF, Canterbury, UK
Yeah, I too would rather have a depraved childhood than a deprived one.
Roy, Melbourne, Australia
This was before the teaching though? Surely we al have a past?
nik, accrington,
Pure case of sexual discrimination!
Morakinyo, Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex
Kids are probably taught that storks leave babies from heaven on their doorsteps at that 'independent' school.
glen, north vancouver,
Laws were broken by this 'teacher'...the laws of decency and propriety. It is irksome that, for a few $s, 'teachers' are prepared to compromise their morals and/or integrity, if they had any, in the first place.
amriksson, Michigan, USA
I very much appreciated the way the article (online version) ended with a combination of the link to YouTube and the most psychologically inept closing sentence ever!
Martin, Swindon,
It is ridiculous that they have suspended he girl, what will happen next, teachers that have children will be suspended for having sex at home with their own partners, or for having a bit too much to drink at a private party, god only knows what the politically correct police will pull them up for next - God forbid purchasing something frilly for the weekend from M & S.
Dominic Tattersall, Burnley, England
I'm confused. This was a perfectly legitimate advert for a well known company not a soft porn film yes? It was done before Sarah went into teaching anyway yes? Many politicians and grand dames and sirs of the theatre have appeared nude in less than educational films yes? I think the powers that be at Stockp[ort need to geta reality check. I cannot see that this is anyworse than anything that children can watch on Tv any day and night of the week.
Denise B, Oldbury, , England
She can unleash the lead in my pencil anyday..
Rob, Brum, UK
Maybe in hindsight she wouldn't have done the advert but as far as I can see no laws were broken and nobody came to any harm.
The school should be brave enough to rise above the hype around this and let the teacher stay. Provided she delivers the goods in class this will be forgotten in a few weeks. Definately not worth sacking her over....
Andy, London,
This will be the most popular clip on you tube for a while. I bet the pupils and teachers at the school are cursing the do-gooders who have banned her. Phew!! What does she teach? I'm enrolling
Andy , Peterborough,
i wish she was my teacher in school.
mat, Liverpool,
How come I never had any teachers like this when I was at school? what a great teacher!
Matt, Egham,
Glenda Jackson did some very raunchy stuff when she was an actress (see The Music Lovers)...and she's now an MP...
simon, cardiff, Wales
She will be a popular teacher indeed, shrewd recruiting by this school! Why outrage however when underage girls are now legally given condoms and the pill excluding parental advice, and this is a jolly good thing? Our culture is just confused about sex and the young - bad to have soft porn stars in the classroom, good to dish out contraceptives to pupils and cut parental advice out. Surely the latter goes with the former?
Timon, Oxford, UK
First class. She should be promoted to Minister of Education.
Gerbil von Smerdiakov, London, UK
If it wasn't written in her contract when she took up employment at the school that the offer was valid only on the basis of her full and honest declaration of all PREVIOUS employment and activities, then the school have no basis to terminate her contract. I mean, it's like a guy being thrown out of a hotel half-way through his holiday for being gay - it's just wrong.
Marco, Krakow, Poland
Great advert.
Typical stupid sanctimonious bureaucrats.
Great teacher !
Richard Bruce, Cape Town, SA
The poor judgement is entirely down to the teacher accepting such a job
Tom, London,
I feel I had a deprived childhood, Why did I not have teachers like her when I was at school? I can only vaguely remember a sexy teacher from my educational years and I was in Infant school at the time so I must have been a bit precocious!
plato, ely,
Nice ad. I'll be buying work clothes immediately. As for the young ladies' suspension from her job, what a person does outside of their workplace is no business of their employer. I trust she's going to sue.
colin, london, england
Teachers never did earn very much!
John Adams, Péault, France
So where can I get this Scruffs stuff from then!!? This news article is probably the best advertising they've ever had.
Sarah Green should be given a slot on the Armstrong and Miller comedy show. Script would be something like ....
" Yeah I was a pretty girl, had a good time with my mates growing up, no sure what I wanted to do with my life, I decided to get into modelling and this offer came up, did a few shoots and commercials but that didn't work out.......so I thought I'd become a teacher!" www.got_bored_modelling.gov.uk.
If she was a good teacher, it will be the schools loss, not just hers, but I'm sure she'll find gainful employment elsewhere. Bet the lads in her class are gutted!
Bruce, Hailsham,
She should stay at school as I don't think personaly she as done any thing wrong as this happened before she became a teacher. I think the chidren will look up to her more than a prim and propper teacher.
len Webb, Sheffield, Yorkshire
Saw this ad a while back after it was e-mailed to me by a female friend who thought it was brilliant - I agreed - very funny, tongue-in-cheek, effective advertising. I bet the pupils thought it was hilarious.
Amazing that 50 years after the 'Carry On' films, British society is still so sad and guilt-ridden about any suggestion that children are produced by (shh!) SEX - and that people actually, you know, DO it.
I wish Sarah Green (as usual, the woman taking the blame) all the best in her future career - any sensible advertiser should snap her up. Just a shame that, since she starred in this clip long before becoming a teacher, teaching was clearly what she wanted to do - but hopefully the school will have lost more than she has.
Jerry, Rennes, France
I'm hot for teacher! If I were 16 or 17 years old and I had a teacher like that - I would have failed repeatedly to stay in school. My teachers varied between the ancient and the ugly. I think the Grammer School should be proud to have a teacher who is so good looking.
A great asset to the school
Curtis, Leeds, UK
To the staff of Stockport Grammar School:
"Get a grip, please !"
Roberto, Roma, Italy
If M & S used this format for there mens clothes I might actually buy some.
+ some M & S shares
A bit sad for the woman as it was before she was hired and has nothing to do with her teaching profession, if it was Italy she could go into politics and win elections, she would get my vote anyday!
It makes you wonder who actually found it to be her, as I am sure she did not advertise it,, maybe the headmaster needed an extension and so needed some site clothing,, some one has exposed themselves as a tell all.
Nicholas Iles, Oswestry, United Kingdom
If I had teachers that good looking in school I would have probably done a heck of alot better, and paid ALOT more attention in class... It sucks that people are such prudes about the act and thought of sex... kinda makes me think on where we are going as a worldly society when it comes to the natural act of sex...
Josh, Quincy, Michigan, USA
Wish I had teachers like that when I was at school, I'd have been there every day, every term for the whole period!
Ben
Ben Robinson, Brighton, UK
Voiceover at the end of the ad "No workmen were hurt during the making of this ad".
Nuff said!
R Bingham, Lauzun, France
At least she uses a condom.
Hendricks, London,
if the school's ridiculous response means the rest of us get to see more of sarah, I applaud the old farts.
jem, london, uk
Who cares? Leave the poor woman alone. She's probably a fine teacher. Let her do her job.
A Reader, California, USA
She wants to be an actress and took a part in an advert. It's really no more raunchy than a lot of what's on TV. If you found your teacher had been in some ITV drama series before she became a teacher, in which she'd had a bit of a grope, with clothes on, would anyone care? So what's her crime here? It can only be that the thing's a bit tacky. Lay off!
Gemma Wilkinson, London,
She made this ad before she became a teacher.
All those parents are hypocrites.
Remember "Let those without sin cast the first stone."
tyler brandon, calgary, canada
I wish she was my English teacher...
Martin, Aberdeen,
' Know something ? As an ad, it's not such a bad idea. On the other hand, it's poor taste. Everybody ( teacher, advertisers, etc.) should have shown a little bit more common sense. On the other hand again, suspending the teacher seems really an over reaction. The pupils can see much worse in any porn film available from the nearest supermarket. Authorities, leave the teacher alone ...
Maria Helena, Odemira, Portugal
brilliant. Wish she was my teacher!
bloke, london,
I do feel sorry for the boys at Stockport Grammar School. They are going to be stumbling around looking tired and shaky.
Frank Upton, Solihull,
What this teacher did prior to becoming a teacher has no relevance to her suitability to teach. That said it is perhaps appropriate to consider the issue, but not for very long. The add' is not offensive to anyone except to the building workers who are still the subject of this sort of peurile stereotyping.

I seem to remember that Glenda Jackson became an MP after a career in film that included some notoriously "raunchy" scenes, or how about Dame Helen Mirren, hardly a shrinking violet in the raunch department.
The school seems to be taking the 18th Century view that being an actress was little more than being a prostitute......bizzare.
Sedgwick Morrison, London,
The parents must think this before complaining - It was THEIR children who were looking for raunchy stuff on Youtube in the first place, that's why they came across the clip!!!
The teacher's past is past, if she's a good teacher then let her get on with teaching for goodness sake. A bit embarassing for a while but so what!
Mrs Williams, Bangor, UK
Her only 'crime' is for having taken part in a crass ad...BEFORE taking up her teaching post.
aleabdi, Birkirkara, Malta
Not everyone is perfect. She is an attractive woman who appeared in an advert. She did not commit a crime or do anything with a minor. If we held accountable for every choice we made in our youth no one would be able to hold a job.
After watching the ad this woman had such a small part in it.
She wasn't playing a teacher and the ad had nothing to do with kids. It is not like she did something pornographic. The ad is suggestive and fun. It is clever and unique. The ad stands out and is noticable.
With our questionable adventures posted online for the world to see we need to just say lighten up, no crime was committed and everyone is entitled to being a little stupid. If a camera followed anyone around 24/7 and was posted on the internet would anyone be able to hold a job?
William Smith, Philadelphia, PA/USA
Whys she getting sacked for appearing in an ad that was filmed before she became a teacher? There could be a nice lawsuit coming the schools way soon.
Or I could be wrong :)
Eric, Leeds,
We live in such a politically correct namby pambying society. Miss Green I'm sure will have her many talents better utilised outside of such a stiff environment.
David, Sheffield,
They never had teachers like that when I was at school. I think suspending her is an over reaction.
She may have lost a little respect from some of her pupils and gained a lot more from others.
mervyncp, Hereford,
Educational curricula:
The students have observed comedy, tragedy, and absurdity.
The students have learned some sociology, economics, and psychology.
The students have encounterd a dynamic of ethics, responsibilty, and politics.
The students have been part of a real life "mini-scandal."
robert, georgia, usa
I feel sorry for the lads. Still they would never get any work done with their hands constantly down their 'action trousers'. There would be cranes raising all over the place. hah!
Rebecca, kettering, UK
Do want!
Moar, Brighton, UK
Oh dear. Not the best career decision...
Lawtutor, London,
Really the Grammar school should suspend the ad for making their teacher look bad. Poor judgment seems to have prevailed.
David, Rex, GA
lol, Green-chan scored good.
